"Nibaldo Calvo Buides is from Cuba and has lived in the United States for over six years. As a child, Nibaldo dreamed of making a better life for his family. He studied chess and worked as a journalist in Cuba with a salary of $30 per month and worked very hard to make his way here to make a better life. Once Nibaldo arrived in the United States he studied English day and night, he was determined and dedicated to making a good life here. Now he teaches Spanish at a private school and provides private lessons for Spanish as well as chess all around the Louisville area. He has a favorite saying “Anything is possible in America!!!” He shows this in the way he lives his life. He approaches everything with an open heart, an open mind and a positive attitude. He believes that no dream is unattainable. All you have to do is believe."
